Since 2014, Ellen Scharaga has worked as an operational consultant for Alegria Specialty Pharmacy, where she assists in developing and delivering medications specifically designed to manage various chronic conditions such as HIV, multiple sclerosis, and hepatitis C. Alegria provides services including a Health and Wellness Program.

Alegria’s Health and Wellness Program focuses on a person’s medication course, nutrition, and health goals to ensure optimal health. To create an individualized program, the participant fills in a health assessment questionnaire. As this program emphasizes ongoing education, based on the results, the patient may be given counseling to help with changing self-perception and the way that they think about their life. The program’s education and counseling primarily focus on teaching personal and motivating principles that have relevance and practical uses in daily life. Moreover, the health team is on hand to help coordinate care for disease management, nutrition and lifestyle management, and case management issues.
The main motives of all health and wellness programs are to reduce health risks, improve health behaviors, reduce health care costs, and build a person’s morale. Additional benefits can include early identification of disease and health problems and the achievement of a health lifestyle.
